The Principle of Creative Collaboration\n<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n

Habit 6: Synergize is about working together to find new solutions to challenging problems. Synergy is when the sum is greater than its parts. It\u2019s often expressed as an equation where 1 + 1 = 3, 10, or 1,000. Think of the ingredients in a recipe coming together to create a dish or each instrument in an orchestra creating a song. That\u2019s synergy.<\/p>\n

Synergy isn\u2019t an accident, it\u2019s a habit. There\u2019s a process we can follow to get there. For that process to work, we have to live all the other habits. If we\u2019re reactive, directionless, unfocused, fail to consider what others need, and don\u2019t listen to each other, we\u2019ll never collaborate successfully. We\u2019ll also never get to synergy if we don\u2019t value others\u2019 ideas.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s truly valuing differences, instead of just tolerating them, that really drives synergy. The ideas and perspectives of others are what allow us to get outside or normal way of thinking to see the world, and the problems we\u2019re trying to solve together, in a new way.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/span>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

The Steps to Synergy<\/h2>

These are the steps to make synergy a habit:<\/p>\n

  1. Ask: Are we and the people around us willing to try for something new and different? Not my way or your way, but our way.<\/li>\n
  2. Define: Determine what success looks like\u2014what\u2019s our end in mind?<\/li>\n
  3. Create: Prototype and countertype ideas to explore and see what\u2019s possible.<\/li>\n
  4. Arrive: Discover a 3rd Alternativesolution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n <\/div>\n
